The first one is I loose the batter icon and have found the only way to restore it is to re scan for new hardware in the device manager.

- Are the device drivers updated?
- Are all the Windows updates including the optional updates installed on the computer?
I would suggest you to try these steps.
1. Run the Power troubleshooter.
This troubleshooter is an automated Windows 8.1 inbuilt tool which finds and fixes the common issues with the Power settingsin your computer. Perform these steps to run this tool and check if that helps.
a)Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.
b)Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.
c)In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “ViewAll” on the left pane.
d)Click on “Power”.
e)Click on “Advanced” and then click on “RunasAdministrator”.
f)Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
Now try to shut down the computer and check if the issue still persists
