THE best stick for flight sims that support FFB devices. I have owned a lot of sticks. I even have a TM Warthog. I recently purchased a second MSFFB2 as a backup in case the one I have ever fails me or I feel like attempting to mod the older one with a stick with more buttons. This stick is essential for DCS Blackshark 2, and I love it for any ww2 or ww1 flight sim with the shaking as a stall indicator and the stiffening of the forces when pushing the limits of my bird.I still use my warthog stick for DCS - A-10c, or any other more modern DCS jet and also Falcon BMS due to the amount of buttons available. But a future mod to this stick may eliminate my need for that all together, and to be honest, I've been way more partial to bi-planes, prop planes, and the Ka-50 while simming since obtaining the MSFFB2. I just wish it had more buttons.. *eyeballs x52 pro stick gathering dust*.. yeah.. I think I'll call it Frankenfeedback.

First a bit of my own history: I purchased this joystick circa 2008, probably near the end of its commercial availability. It was bought along with Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition. Initially both were installed on a Windows Vista 64-bit desktop. I didn't devote that much time to playing the simulator (I wished I could!) so when I did a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit, on the same hardware platform, I did not reinstall the Flight Simulator and I don't think I plugged the joystick to the computer either. Therefore I cannot comment on the driver compatibility.

Now I have a new desktop since 2014, initially running Windows 8.1 64-bit, which was recently upgraded to Windows 10 64-bit. Now I have a bit more time at hand, I would like to put back the simulator setup. The software was listed as compatible, but not the joystick. Given my very light use, I really didn't want to buy a 'compatible' one.

So tonight, I plugged it into the computer and voila! the operating system recognized it without issues. In fact, the calibration interface looks really familiar and probably trickled down from earlier versions of Windows anyway. Then I reinstalled the Flight Simulator X: Gold (not the more modern Steam version) and so far, the simulator does recognize the joystick and force feedback seems to work.

Microsoft's own forum discussers seemed to always provide the 'official answers' (judged by reading related topics centered on Windows 8.x compatibility) that this joystick is not compatible. My guess is that Microsoft just did not test this fully with all hardware platforms, nor would they want to do that due to the age of this joystick. But apparently they did write a driver for it (x64 OS cannot use x86 drivers at all).
